Scottish Funding Council

The Scottish Funding Council (SFC) is the national body for university and college funding. Its mission is to improve further and higher education. Its investments and policies benefit learners, businesses and communities throughout Scotland through funding:

  • Learning & teaching
  • Research & innovation
  • Skills development
  • Student support funds (for college students)
  • Widening access to further and higher education
  • Other costs such as staff, buildings and equipment

Its main activities are:

  • Developing and managing Outcome Agreements
  • Progressing national priorities
  • Supporting collaboration between colleges and universities
  • Making payments to colleges and universities and other statutory functions
